OK, while I know that the treble booster is typically thought of as a means for driving a crunchy tube amp into searing territory, I was wondering if someone can tell me more about boosting in high gain scenarios. I do realise that metal is sometimes seen as the territory of the little kids, but some of us big kids like it too and, believe me, want sweet tone when we play it!  Grin

If I'm already playing with quite a lot of gain (though not too much - gain down, masters up, kids!), would a treble booster still be appropriate for pouring some additional gain on top of a solo? Would engaging it also manifest as an increase in volume? Or is it better in this instance to go with a clean boost and/or a quality overdrive? Educate please!!!
