Thought I'd kick off a post to check out everyones current rigs. My main rig at the moment is:

Guitar: Tele or Strat-->
FX: Boss TU-2 tuner-->Boss TR-2 Tremolo-->DigiPlay Analog Delay-->Ibanez TS-9 (modded to 808)-->Flynn OC-44-->
Amp: Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 copy

The OC-44 treb is on all of the time TS-9 is there for a bit of beef when needed.

Hi everybody,
Must have gig gadgets for me are a booster, a tuner, a guitar with a strap, a valve amp and leads. Everything else is icing on the tone cake.
You can have too much icing mind you!

I generally take the same as Stevie though I leave out the boost if I'm playing one of my Gretsches.
If the amp I'm playing has reverb and trem I'll use the footswitch for them, if not I'll live without.

Hi All
I am using mainly a US Strat, sometimes a Gordon Smith GS1 or Hagstrom Viking (all left handed), through an AC30CC1 normal channel, switched down to 22watts setting with a touch of reverb, I have a Maxon od808 set at low gain/high level for a bit of grunt. Occasionally I use a danecho pedal and a marshall chorus in the loop. A couple of good quality leads and a clip on tuner.
I have been settled on this set-up for about 12 months now having been around the houses with every bit of gizmo digi modely triple channel this that and the other out there, which have all ended up on ebay. We play a regular pre christmas gig for a bike club and looking back at the pictures over the last 5 years this is the 1st time I had the same guitars and amps as the previous year so it looks like I might be getting settled (or I will be when get an OC44 treble booster)

Cheers
Jeff

Hi. I am running a "splawn" pro mod head and 'splawn" custom quad box. (if you haven't heard of them..check em out they are incredible)..my main guitar is an early 80's schecter custom strat with OBL pick ups. I have used modelers for a few years (Boss GT Pro)...but I am thinking of going back to analog pedals as i am sick of the digital "hash"...thats why I am checking out this site and the "tones"....

Cheers From Australia.

Hi there,
just did a bit of Splawning and really like the look. The grill on the front of  the heads looks great and they look well finished. I use modelling stuff (line6) for certain things and I use analogue for the real stuff. What I never do is mix 'real' with 'unreal'. IMHO Modeling is fast food and valve/ analogue is a la carte!
Cheers,

Stevie.

Hello,

This is my first message ever sent so here we go...................

Guitars used most often:
Fender Strat 57 Custom Shop Ltd / Gibson Les Paul O2 Standard / Jeff Beck Strat(which the burd calls Daphne due to her colour)
Gibson Angus Young SG and my new addition to my gigging guitars is a Japanese Squire Jazzmaster which I have fitted a Humbucker sized Seymour Duncan P90 in the bridge position and a TV Jones humbucker in the neck, great sounding guitar.

Amps used:
Peavey 5150 60 watt combo which was recently fitted with an adjustable bias and had an overly trebally lead channel calmed down by the guys at Flynn Amps and now sounds amazing. It is such an under-rated amp in that it is alot more versatile than most people think.
Marshall 1972 SL/A 100 watt head with 4 speaker outs which looks stock but who knows through a basket weave marshall 4x12 cabinet of around the same age and not always with a power-break. It is bloody loud!!! and now thanks to being serviced by Flynn Amps it doesn't pop and fizz or pick-up the radio anymore. It is a great set up for blues and classic rock.
I must sound like a clepto but I also use a THD flexi 50 and an old Selmer 50 watt bass and treble head all through the 4x12.

Effects used: Line 6 DL4 Delay, MXR phase 90 block logo, Dunlop wah, Fulltone fulldrive 2, Boss EQ, Boss TU2 tuner on my pedal board but I also have a few other pedals which I chop and change from time to time. I also bought 3 kit build fx from Guitar and Bass Magazine and only got as far as building the treble booster and ive made an arse of it so another item for the guys at Flynn to sort for me..lol

Regards

Awright!

Main guitars just now are Les Paul classic, Epiphone Riviera (nice sound - unstable tuning tho' 'cos of coathanger tailpiece), and Tele deluxe. All standard with no mods.

FX -
Jesus, here goes. Boss Tu2, Boss Compressor, EHX Pog2, 2x Boss Super OD, Boss Turbo Distortion, EHX Worm, Boss DD3, EHX Mem man DLxe, Boss RV5, Boss EQ. All controlled via GigRig Pro-14 whichI got recently and has answered all my prayers when dealing with 10+ stomp boxes. The simple answer would be of course "get rid of some pedals" but where's the fun in that?

Have tried all sorts of multi fx latest being the pod xt live which I find great in the studio - very quick to get mutli amp set ups and where some of it's digital harshness can be hidden in the mix. Live however I just couldn't get a decent sound so I kept doing back to the old stompers. No menus either. One of the biggest drawbacks I found with Line6 stuff is that bloody gap you get when changing patches. Very frustrating. With the Pro-14 you don't get that - plus you get delay overspill between changes. It also lets me switch between amps and amp a channels which I never really did before but can now with no hassle.Amps -
A very old peavy classic 100w - part valve part solid. Smashing pair of Blackwidow speakers c/w mental sounding phaser and great reverb.
Just got a Fender Hotrod Deluxe 40w valve. Wish I'd done a bit more research before I did. Begining to hear some horror stories over built quality. Does anyone have any experience of these amps. Sound is ok - not true "Fender" clean but the eq pedal tidies that up.

All this is very well, but the band has just decided to explore it's "acoustic roots" now which leaves all of the above parked under the stairs at home... Shocked

Howzit,
I wouldn't worry too much about the Fender Deluxe build quality.
They can be made fairly gig worthy if you know what to watch out for.
Get them effects out for the acoustic gig, John Martyn wrote the book on it!
Cheers,
Stevie.

Hokay,

PRS Custom 24 OR ESP LTD JH600 -------->Morley Steve Vai Sig. Bad Horsie II Wah -------> Mesa/Boogie Mark III (red stripe) -----------> Marshall 1960A cab.

The 1960A is purely incidental, I practice at a friend's studio and it's what he has. I'm not too sure I like the G12T-75 speakers in there. Anyone got an opinion on relative merits of Celestion V30s vs Eminence V128s?

Hi,
I quite like mixed speakers in a cab. A 2x12 sounds great with one V30 and one Greenback. The V30 is fairly scooped and the GB fills that nicely.
Matchless have been doing it since year dot.
Cheers,
Stevie

I've heard that that's a nice setup!  Grin

My only concern there is power handling. The Mesa is rated at 100W and teh interwebz inform me that V30s are rated for 60W and greenbacks for 25! The obvious solution would be to get a 412 I suppose but, having never had my own cab before, I like the idea of being able to swap out the speakers for the purposes of experimentation and  (according to my calculations) this is approximately twice as expensive in a 4x12 versus a 2x12!
